Horsing Around

We went to Firefly Acres , and I sat on a horse for the first time! The horse's name is Pumpkin. She is used on the farm for teaching riding lessons to children. It took me a few minutes to warm up to the idea of sitting on her. I wasn't too sure about it initially.

IDENTITY CRISIS?!

Back in August, mommy and I found a Tigger costume (brand new with original tags) at the consignment shop for $4! After trying it on for size in the store (and many laughs), we decided it was a must-have - if nothing else for playing around the house this winter. In early October we were shopping at a consignment sale, and I spotted the fireman costume. From that day on when asked what I was going to dress up as for Halloween, I said "fireman." On Friday morning we were getting ready to go to the childrens' museum, and mommy asked what I wanted to wear. In a very decisive tone of voice, I told her that I was going to be Tigger in the morning at the museum and then come home, take a nap, and wear the fireman to go trick-or-treating. A little baffled at my extensive, well thought-out response, mommy grinned and said ok -sounds like fun!

Aunt Becky dressed up as a black cat for me to rescue from a tree. We had a great time playing "chase."

I have started asking this question every night at the dinner table. Part of me is curious for the answer, and part of me just wants to be able to respond when it is redirected to me. In the past I have answered, "abuwus" (fabulous), "ood," "tanta-ik," but tonight's response was the best. I think I'm going to send in my new word to 'ole Webster. Dawson: "Hey Daddy. How was your day going at work?" Daddy: "Well, Dawson. My day was pretty good. How was your day at school?" Dawson: "It was goodtastic!"

I frequently eat my afternoon snack outside on the swingset. These pictures were taken about 6 weeks ago, but I finally have a faster internet connection and couldn't resist sharing them.

Cookeville Childrens Museum

The Cookeville Childrens Museum is one of my favorite places. I meet Avery there every Friday. There is a large piece of glass that you can paint on both sides. Above is a picture of the first time we painted on it. Below is a picture from a couple weeks ago.

This was my first time to use scissors. I held the scissors properly and did an excellent job cutting. I took it very seriously. Can you tell? And, last but not least, this is my favorite room in the museum! It has grocery carts, pretend food, a cash register, kitchen, table, real phones, and a garden with an apple tree. I love putting all the food in the grocery cart and pushing it around the museum.

I went to my first high school football game - Sparta vs. Brainard. Mommy and I practiced all day cheering for the White County Warriors. "Go Warriors!" I was fascinated with all the "big boys" playing out on the field. After sitting down in the stands and looking around to check it all out, I looked at Mommy and asked, "Where are the warriors?" I wore my special football outfit that Aunt Kathleen made me. It was her very first sewing project, and she did an awesome job! Thanks Aunt Kathleen!

The cheerleaders threw little footballs into the stands, and I thought that was way cool. I loved the band at halftime. The drummers were my favorite. Can you tell by looking at my eyes that it's past bedtime?

Amaizin' Acres Pumpkin Patch

We went to the pumpkin patch this weekend with Matt and Ashley. I had a wonderful time and Matt took some fantastic pictures of me! Thanks Matt! We went through a corn maze, played in a corn box, took a hay ride, picked pumpkins, and pet some farm animals.

Buck Snort

The Pates invited me to visit their farm and help feed a baby cow. Buck Snort was a twin cow who was estranged by his mother. Dr. Pate found him stranded in a ditch and took him home to nurse him back to health. He has been feeding Buck Snort formula in two bottles twice a day for two months. Buck Snort was very sweet. He let me pet him and brush him, and he bucked my mommy several times.

I also visited with the other Angus cattle on the Pates' farm. They were almost as interested in me as I was in them.

The cows asked me for a "special treat."

So I told them to be real sweet and that I would ask their Daddy.

The Pates live at the top of 150 foot waterfalls. This is the view from their back deck. We visited on the front porch and watched the sunset. It was beautiful!
